A focused half-day in the Ariake bayside district, one of Tokyo's most car-enthusiast-friendly neighborhoods. Everything on this itinerary is within walking distance — no car or expressway needed.

Start at A PIT Autobacs when it opens, walk over to Ariake Garden for the Kyosho Store and lunch, hit the TOM'S showroom, then cap the day with a karting session at City Circuit Tokyo Bay. Everything is within walking distance of each other.

A PIT Autobacs Shinonome

The A PIT Autobacs Shinonome is the largest Autobacs in Tokyo and one of the best car shops in Japan for enthusiasts. It's a multi-floor destination: parts and accessories on the lower floors, a service bay with viewing gallery, and a used-car showroom with serious JDM machines.

Tips:

  • Opens at 10am on weekends
  • The used-car showroom regularly turns over stock — worth checking even if you're not buying
  • There's a small café and eating options on-site if you want to start slow

Getting there from central Tokyo: Shinonome Station on the Rinkai Line is a short walk.

Kyosho Store at Ariake Garden

Ariake Garden is a shopping and entertainment complex a short walk from A PIT Autobacs.

The Kyosho Store is worth the detour for anyone into scale models or RC cars. Kyosho's flagship retail presence means a proper selection of 1/18 and 1/64 JDM models, RC cars, and limited items that don't make it to general retail. If you're hunting for a specific model or want to browse what's new, this is the place.

TOM'S Racing Showroom

TOM'S (Toyota Motorsport) has been tuning and racing Toyotas since 1974 — Supras, Chasers, 86s, GR cars — and their Ariake-area showroom is worth a stop for any Toyota fan. Current builds, the parts catalog, and motorsport memorabilia make it more than just a shop visit.

Tips:

  • Check their website for current showroom hours before visiting
  • Check their social media before going to see what builds are currently on display

City Circuit Tokyo Bay

City Circuit is an indoor karting venue near TOM'S and Ariake Garden — a natural way to end the day with actual seat time rather than just browsing. The track is proper circuit-style, not the slow tourist variety.

Tips:

  • Book ahead on weekends, it fills up
  • Multiple session lengths available — a single race session is enough if you're short on time
  • Locker storage available for bags if you've been shopping all day

Getting There

The whole area is easily reachable by train — no car needed.

  • A PIT Autobacs: Rinkai Line to Shinonome Station, 5-min walk
  • Ariake Garden: Rinkai Line to Kokusai-Tenjijo Station, or a short walk from Shinonome
  • TOM'S showroom: In the same Ariake district, walkable from Ariake Garden

Best day: Weekends — the used-car showroom at Autobacs is busier but more interesting. TOM'S tends to be quieter on weekdays if you prefer that.

Start time: 10am to catch Autobacs when it opens.
